2024-09-26

On the afternoon of September 26, 2024, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) held the 12th Donation Ceremony for the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program" at Renji Hospital.

Chairman of SMIC, Dr. Liu Xunfeng, Director of Shanghai Renji Hospital, Dr. Xia Qiang, and Vice Director of the Foundation Department of the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation, Ms. Liu Ying, attended the ceremony and delivered notable remarks. During the event, the parents of young patients presented small gifts to SMIC and other supportive corporate representatives as a gesture of deep gratitude to all involved.

Adhering to the principles of being "people-oriented" and "giving back to society with love," SMIC has collaborated with the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation and Shanghai Renji Hospital since 2013 to launch the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program." Over the past twelve years, the program has evolved into a significant public welfare initiative, widely supported by company employees, various enterprises within the integrated circuit industry chain, and caring individuals from all sectors of society.

This time, SMIC, together with its dedicated workforce of over 2,000 employees, donated a record 2.44 million yuan to the project. A total of 106 partner companies also responded generously, contributing 3.21 million yuan. Altogether, 5.66 million yuan has been donated this year. To date, the program has raised nearly 50 million yuan, helping 943 underprivileged children across the nation undergo liver transplant surgeries and gain a new lease on life.

Dr. Liu Xunfeng, Chairman of SMIC, emphasized that as a leading enterprise in the domestic semiconductor industry, SMIC will continue to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations in ESG governance, while advancing technological progress and industrial upgrading. The company is committed to the corporate social responsibility of "caring for people, caring for society, and caring for the environment." SMIC will actively transform the care and support it receives from all sectors of society into a driving force for its work, continuously contributing to children's health initiatives, and striving to play a positive role in a wider range of fields, bringing hope to more people in need.

Dr. Xia Qiang, Director of Shanghai Renji Hospital, stated that in the future, Renji Hospital will continue to collaborate with SMIC, the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation, and all caring partners to embody the concept of "gathering love and building a better future" through concrete actions. We will continuously enhance our medical technology and provide high-quality, efficient medical services to more children. At the same time, we look forward to more societal support joining this compassionate effort to collectively promote the healthy growth of children.

Ms. Liu Ying, Vice Director of the Foundation Department of the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation, emphasized that children's health is a "matter of public concern," and safeguarding their healthy development is a shared aspiration of society. For over 40 years since its establishment, the foundation has upheld Soong Ching-ling's vision of "creating the future," pooling social resources, leveraging its unique strengths, and implementing a series of public welfare projects focused on the well-being of children. These efforts have made positive contributions to promoting the healthy growth and comprehensive development of young people. As we embark on a new journey, the foundation remains committed to working with everyone to unite society's compassionate forces, becoming guardians of youth health, and laying a solid foundation for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.
